Sociology description from UCDavis:

Cooperation and conflict are present in every human relationship, from the bond between married couples to the interactions of larger social units such as socioeconomic classes and ethnic groups. Sociologists study the patterns of behavior that characterize human interaction. They seek to discover the main forces that unite and separate social groups and to determine the conditions that transform social life. As a sociology major at UC Davis, you can tailor your major to suit your long-term personal goals, whether they include law school, a career in social services or in-depth work with business organizations.

Sociology graduates from UC Davis have found employment in such areas as social work, counseling, education and international trade. Many go on to graduate study in law, human service fields and business management.

As a Sociology major, you can choose an emphasis in law or society, social services, comparative studies and world development, or general sociology. A sociology degree provides a broad background in sociological theory and methods before moving to a more specific focus. Depending on your area of interest, you may study such topics as intercultural relations, the relationship between media and society, or issues of organizational decision-making.

from the department website: Designed for students interested in social work agencies, public service, counseling and related areas. It also allows flexibility in course selection. Required courses include social problems, social stratification, the family, social welfare, research methods, and ethnic studies.

(in january, i am going to a counselor to fill out a transfer agreement with davis. *fingers crossed*) (second choice -- ucsb)

the feedback.

about my ESSAY people, my essay.

"nice opening."

"good."

"nice."

"yes."

check mark, check mark, check mark... [x's 20] (check mark means 'good.')

"An excellent explication of a difficult poem. Your interpretation of the images is articulate and persuasive as you unfold the complex themes of the poem. You notice the smallest details, commenting absolutely and boldly on their significance. You don't really comment on the final line; still, your essay is perceptive and admirable. A."

(also, i scored a 90 on the huge-ass poetry test.)

plans for the future and blah, blah, blah.

(kt is helping me with the transfer process. she's pretty much an expert, after a counselor put her through years of unnecessary jc-dom. this is the e-mail i sent to her just a little while ago.)

i am just sorting through all of my classes and what i need blah blah blah.

i went to csu mentor and looked up the requirements for both csu and uc, i believe. some of that shit is confusing. here is where i think i am now:

after this semester, i will need to TAKE:

english 5 (planned for spring '06)
spch 1a
math 15 (after 155, planned for spring '06)
torn between anthro 43 (tentatively planned for spring '06) or art 43 (women in art, i believe)
one more class under the 'humanities' heading
pols 1 (planned for spring '06)
physical science
bio science (at least one science with a lab)

areas of question:

asl 1a fulfills the language other than english requirement. in order to use my french from high school, my transcript needs to be on file. but i don't think i will need it?

[edit on the e-mail]

change the end of the e-mail to look like this:

after spring 2006, i will need (i like thinking in these terms -- makes it look more manageable):

spch 1a
math 15
physical science
bio science
humanities

(i will take a science in the summer to lessen the blow of that final semester -- yikes.)

essentially, 1 more semester after spring????

so, can i transfer spring of '07??? IN ONE YEAR?!

just a little bit impatient and READY.

and this:

eeeeeeeek!!!!!!!!

rate-a-date.

Occupation: munchkin

Age: 2.5yrs.

Marital status: single

Length of date: 2 hours

What we did: walked downtown hand-in-hand, took pictures of the fall foliage, goofed around, ate hotdogs, and browsed the used section of the downtown bookstore.

High point: when he accidentally kissed my boob. (i was holding him all wonky-like.)

me: hey! you kissed my boob!
carter: cute shirt!

Low point: he may have pooped his pants near the end of the date.

Overall impression: i think i'm in love.

Reason I went on the date: we haven't been able to spend much time together lately, with my being gone on the weekends & busy during the week with school.

He stipulated: we will go to the park soon.

Chance I will see him again: odds are great.
